The head of Persepolis World Heritage Site talked about the destruction and height reduction of two siloes which exceed the Persepolis right-of-way, he continued “after lodging a complaint against Naqsh-e Rostam Flour Factory, the writ for destroying and shortening those siloes had accomplished, finally”.

According to the Public Relations Department of Persepolis World Heritage Site, Mr. Rezaei said “this action shows that World Heritage Organization is serious in facing illegal actions in the Persepolis right-of-way and any such illegal action will face such reaction which is destruction at the owner’s expense”.

The archeologist expert and the advisor of the Persepolis right-of-way, Afshin Yazdani emphasized that these two siloes exceeded the second grade right-of-way of Persepolis so they got destroyed and shortened (the destruction consisted of the concrete parts and iron bonnet at the top of siloes) to avoid the risk of Persepolis and Naqsh-e Rostam outlook zone spoilt.

The advisor of the Persepolis right-of-way said “we can claim that the destruction and damage risk of Persepolis and Naqsh-e Rostam landscape has been reduced a lot”. So the destruction and shortening siloes at Naqsh-e Rostam Four Factory was the result of an agreement between the owner of the factory and Persepolis Site in order to eradicate the element of damaging the sites outlook. Archaeo-Geophysics operations had been done also to be sure about the building bed of the siloes.

According to the report by Public Relations Department of Persepolis World Heritage Site the process of building siloes has been stopped for the final and judicial decisions, it’s because the height of siloes would affect the Persepolis and Naqsh-e Rostam outlook. So, Persepolis World Heritage Site had controlled this challenge through plans confirmed by technical council and through consultations with Marvdasht attorney general, owner of the factory, and the commander of Persepolis Guardian Unit and pursued all the aspects of the subject until had arrived to the legal resolution and solving the problem which resulted in destroying and shortening the height of siloes on October 23, 2016 in the eyes of judicial and cultural heritage authorities and the owner of the factory.
