The head of Persepolis World Heritage Site announced this news and said “the present Training Workshop, Children and Developing Culture of Cultural Heritage Protection was held for 100 primary school students to acquaint them with cultural heritage, tell them their values and teach them how to protect them from harms”.

Rezaei Monfared continued: Primary school is the most important level of education in most of the countries all over the world; this is the level of education in which students’ personality get form, so acculturation of protecting cultural heritages in this age can have a more effective on this process toward its purpose.

He believes that holding such workshops is important because protecting cultural heritages is one of the fundamental needs for everybody, so obtaining it from childhood will help a child to be familiar with local monuments then will protect and preserve them even when they get old and will transfer the preserving ideas to their next generations.

The commander of Persepolis Guardian Unit, Masoud Heydari pointed to the large number of people who visit Persepolis and said: we have seen different scenes of people who don’t care warnings from guardians and do what may damage the monuments like setting their children on the capitals or statues to take picture or touch the monuments. These are the actions of those who are not aware of protecting cultural heritages. It is believed that a known child can help unknown family members and they will try to obey the child and protect all culture heritages.  He said that even though cultural heritage organization is the responsible one to keep heritages safe, but it is awkward to set a guardian for each part of a place. General people and citizens are the true guardians of the monuments and cultural heritage sites, as they become aware of the heritages value they will keep them safe and become their guardians.

Public Relations Department of Persepolis World Heritage Site said that 100 students learnt the overall rules of visiting historical sites during the workshop and then they visited different places of the site and became familiar with the structures, how they have been built and became aware of the necessity of protecting such sites, especially the vulnerable ones. The last program of the workshop was visiting the museum.
