The head of Persepolis world heritage Base, Dr. Rezaei Monfared said welcome to the participants; he continued and declared that “Prof.Shahbazi was a significant person for Iran cultural heritage because of his high scientific rank as well as his characteristics; so we decided to continue this conference every two years and its perpetual office will be established at Persepolis site. He added that before the first biennial Prof. Shahbazi prize, the office will call the researchers for paper, then after the primary refereeing, those accepted articles will be published, and the prominent ones will be presented orally at the conference and the most significant one will receive The Prof. Shahbazi Prize.
In this conference the Deputy of Iran Cultural Heritage Organization, Mohammad Hasan Talebian put emphasis on Prof.Shahbazi’s high rank due to his abundant compilations and essays related to history of ancient Iran especially Achaemenid history and Parse and Pasargadae sites which are considered as great national and international Achaemenid references. He also said “his powerful written style and creative mind is the source of dominant evolution in expertized researches, this is why he is famous as a clever and keen researcher among foreign researchers”. He also talks about inscribing Yazd as a world heritage city and the significance of the activities in order to inscribe Sassanid Sites on UNESCO and declared that for preserving and inscribing the ancient sites (on UNESCO), those that are considered as cultural, historical and natural heritages, the unity between all the executive parts of the country is crucial.The researcher and archeologist from the University of California, Ali Musavi, was another lecturer of the conference, who presents his lecture as “Persepolis after Fire by Alexander”.
The archeologist and the director of Persepolis underground waterways excavations, Ali Asadi talked about the last three phases of Persepolis underground waterways excavations; at the rest of the conference Nazila Shahbazi (Prof.Shahbazi’s sister) introduced the biennial Prof. Shahbazi Prize and it was mentioned that its office will be established at Persepolis site by the time of naming Persepolis especial library, which is established by him (Prof.Shahbazi). In this conference the Deputy of Iran Cultural Heritage gave a memorial frame to Prof. Shahbazi’s family and after that the cultural heritage lovers got presented at his grave.
